ORGANIZERS

Emily Rooker

Co-Creator & Co-Organizer

Emily Rooker is a big, bad, slutty Pisces masterpiece. As an artist, Emily aspires to be a Leonard Cohen/Lady Gaga crossover - a sensitive, thoughtful poet and writer with a penchant for dramatics, glitter, and belting vocal takes. Emily was born in Michigan during the 1993 Winter Storm of the Century, and has internalized that flurry of wintry chaos through her creative output - she’s a reformed theater kid, a lifelong musician, a pole dancer, a poet, a maker, an organizer, and above all else - an artist. Emily is a co-creator and co-organizer of Slut Recital, a bi-monthly virtual erotic dance showcase, a founding member and the Interim President of Artkognito, and has released 2 studio albums as a solo artist and one EP as part of a 4-piece band, Name and the Nouns. Her third studio album and most ambitious musical work to date, The Long Goodbye, is coming in Spring 2022. You can follow Emily @erookstagram on Instagram, stream her music on Spotify and wherever music is available, and learn more about her at her website www.emilyrooker.com

Krystal Jacksin

Co-Creator & Co-Organizer

Krystal Jacksin is a Dancer, Instructor, Wife, and Stay at Home Mom of two. She was raised in Kennesaw, GA, and trained in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, West African, Dancehall, Pole, Chair, and Twerk. Krystal is a lifelong dancer and will always pay homage to her technical training; however, she is thankful for the more non-traditional styles of dance like pole. For Krystal, the more sensual and sexy styles of dance make her feel at home. You will catch her shaking, showing, and throwing ass in every aspect of her movement journey.

Krystal started pole dancing in 2008, began her teaching journey in 2012. Krystal sees the value in individuality in movement spaces along with the freedom to express sensuality and sexuality in a way that feels good to the student. She strives to provide a space for people to come and share their full selves without fear of being or doing too much. Krystal wants you to do and to be EVERY-FUCKING-THING, unapologetically.

Alex Hensley

Creative Director

Alex Hensley (she/they) is a lover of all things beautiful and their current art form is pole dancing. Alex started pole dancing in November of 2019, and consider it a liberatory practice and a hearty FU to the evangelical purity culture they were raised in.

Since then, she’s performed several times in Slut Recital, a bi-monthly virtual erotic dance showcase, and is now a part of the planning team. You can follow Alex’s pole journey on Instagram @polerbby. Additionally, they are the Interim Administrator for Artkognito.

Much of Alex's
creative energy has gone into building community and making social change. Alex has successfully led campaigns in Memphis to achieve historic oil pipeline regulation, public transit fundingcriminal justice & police reforms, and living wages for workers. Overall, they seek to find & create beauty in all things.
